Why admin cleanup is slow in plain Jira

Jira Cloud gives you projects, fields, screens, schemes, and trash — but not one place that answers: which projects are empty, which custom fields sit on no screen, what is in trash, and what is safe to change. Spreadsheet inventories go stale before the next cleanup window.

02 — What buyers usually want

Audit, inventory, and preview-before-write

  1. Site overview — counts across projects, fields, schemes, and trash in one view.
  2. Project inventory — company-managed and team-managed together, including empty projects; search by key, name, or lead; export CSV when you need a spreadsheet.
  3. Custom-field cleanup candidates — fields on no screen, app-owned fields, and usage checks before you delete.
  4. Schemes and trash — see what is configured and what is waiting in trash without hunting admin screens.
  5. Preview before pay / before apply — read-only by default; every write is previewed and confirmed. Reads are free to evaluate; writes require a licence.

03 — Tooling

Admin Toolkit for Jira

Admin Toolkit for Jira is a Forge app for Jira Cloud site admins. Intended design: compute on Atlassian Forge, customer data stays in your Jira site — no external egress path. It is an audit and cleanup helper, not a full configuration-management suite. Hard truths on the docs page: the Fields tab will not call a field “unused” when Jira only says it is on no screen; scheme columns stay blank for team-managed projects (platform behaviour).
